‘Form Follows Music’ is a project about visualizing organ music, with the aim to create a visual language to express the kinds of feelings that organ music generates. Graphic designer and musician Pavla Nešverová asked herself the question: “Can we see the music and hear the image?”
She created a visual language, which is based on the knowledge of existing musical rules. During her research she carried out many visual experiments to achieve her own and subjective vision of how music should look like.

Part of the project was a performance with an interactive animation that was connected to her music. She partly controlled the visual outcome while playing the organ. In the animation, the sound qualities (pitch, duration and amplitude) were represented by different values of the image. The outcome is an interactive animation and poster series related to organ sound.
